In case you’ve somehow missed the buzz, Wednesday is the new Friday in Denver. Re:Up Wednesdays at the 1up on Colfax are known for introducing Denver to the best up-and-coming talent in any style of electronic music, but Re:Up Wednesdays don’t neglect the classics, either. The legendary drum n’ bass pioneer LTJ Bukem drew an impressive weeknight crowd for his high BPM, high energy stop at the 1up. Denver’s drum n’ bass heads crawled from the woodwork for this one, giving an inspiring reminder that the drum n’ bass scene is not only alive and well, but actively growing.
Last week’s mid-week weekend featured Maribou State for an intimate night of deep, funk house jams. It’s a testament to the Denver scene’s commitment to good music, regardless of genre: the same heads stepping to last week’s drum n’ bass night were found getting down with Maribou State’s lower tempo groove. The night also marked the end of Marcelo Moxy’s Re:Up residency. While the artist embarks on the Pretty Lights Music tour as a member of Michel Menert’s band, MILKY .WAV (also known as Blvck Jordan) will be warming up the dance floor on Wednesdays. Take a listen to Marcelo Moxy’s new live recorded, all-vinyl mix here.
This week’s event features Phaeleh and Groundislava. Treat yourself to a much-needed break and let loose with some beats, beers, and of course video games at the 1up on Colfax. Show up early to check out MILKY.WAV – read our feature on the artist to learn all about Souls in Action’s newest resident.
