Artist Spotlight: Eastern Bloc [FREE DL]

Just in case you missed our post earlier this week on the latest compilation from All-My-Friends, let us give you a little refresher. New Zealand is straight up leaking from the seams with underground talent right now! Here we have a perfect example of the skill we are referring to. Eastern Bloc is a Wellington, NZ based production duo (made up of DJ Marek and Artur aka Beat Mob) that have casually begun to make some serious waves in the jersey club scene down there, as well as worldwide. When their paths first crossed they were quick to hit things off. With mutual respect for vodka on the rocks, southern trap rap, Jersey club, house, bass music, and their shared European history it was destined these two would team up and begin to make some ruckus.

This diverse collection of influences helped them get slots supporting Baauer, Flume, Rustie, Danny Brown, Lil B, ASAP Ferg, Onra, Lunice and most notably Mr Carmack. Artur was even invited to join Carmack at the Red Bull Studios in Auckland for a valuable studio session back in May. This recognition quickly helped them gain some visibility in the local scene and they soon landed a monthly slot promptly titled ‘Eastern Bloc’ which eventually led to the joint production of original music and unique remixes. Throughout recent months they have had great feedback from both the public and the artists they chose to remix. From what we can see it’s only up from here for Eastern Bloc. While they are still gaining ground in the worldwide spectrum of things it seems like they are quickly making a name for themselves both in their local setting of Wellington, NZ and the far reaches of the web so don’t be surprised when you start to see Eastern Bloc pop up more and more often. The purpose of this spotlight on Eastern Bloc is to help them spread their sound to new ears so we are hoping this is all new news for most of you out there.
